In this talk, i will introduce a visual-attention-aware model to mimic the HVS for salient-object detection. The informative and directional patches can be seen as visual stimuli, and used as neuronal cues for humans to interpret and detect salient objects. In order to simulate this process, two typical patches are extracted individually and in parallel from the intensity channel and the discriminant color channel, respectively, as the primitives. In our algorithm, an improved wavelet-based salient-patch detector is used to extract the visually informative patches. In addition, as humans are sensitive to orientation features, and as directional patches are reliable cues, we also propose a method for extracting directional patches. These two different types of patches are then combined to form the most important patches, which are called preferential patches and are considered as the visual stimuli applied to the HVS for salient-object detection. Experimental results using publicly available datasets show that our produced algorithm is reliable and effective.
蹇木偉博士簡介：
蹇木偉，博士，博士后，碩士生導(dǎo)師。 2014 年于香港理工大學(xué)獲博士學(xué)位。目前任職于中國海洋大學(xué)，信息科學(xué)與工程學(xué)院計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)與技術(shù)系。研究方向?yàn)閳D像處理與模式識(shí)別、多媒體計(jì)算、機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)與認(rèn)知科學(xué)等。在SCI 收錄的國際著名期刊《 IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics》、《 IEEE Transactions on CSVT》、《 Pattern Recognition》、《 Information Sciences》、《 Signal Processing》及國際一流會(huì)議 ICME、 ISCAS、 ICIP、 PCM 上發(fā)表論文 30 余篇。其中以第一作者發(fā)表 SCI 收錄的國際期刊論文 10 篇、 EI 收錄論文 30 余篇。
主持國家自然科學(xué)基金青年基金、中國博士后基金（一等資助）、山東省自然科學(xué)基金青年基金、山東省博士后創(chuàng)新項(xiàng)目專項(xiàng)資金、青島市應(yīng)用基礎(chǔ)研究計(jì)劃(青年專項(xiàng))、青島市博士后基金、中央高校青年教師專項(xiàng)基金等研究課題 9 項(xiàng)。擔(dān)任10余個(gè)SCI 國際期刊的審稿人和多個(gè)國際會(huì)議的本地主席（ Local Arrangement Chair）、專題主席（ Special Session Chair）和程序委員會(huì)委員等。蹇博士目前是CCF-計(jì)算機(jī)視覺專委會(huì)委員；CCF-多媒體專委會(huì)通訊委員；山東數(shù)媒專委會(huì)委員等。
